I got some Shitty News Today

I received this email today, on New Years EVE of all days
"Granger,

KSPI-FM has decided not to renew "independently exposed" for 2009. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours. You must bring Steven your key by this friday.

Jay"

No Explanation, nothing. Highly Professional huh? An Email

Well this song by the Eagles pretty much sums up how I feel, aside from letting down people who only listen on 93.7, the show must go on...online

I saw Yes Man Last night

So I was a little skeptical that this film would just be the same as the old movie Liar Liar, which also stared Jim Carrey. But once you get past all the silly slapstickness of the film several deep psychological concepts really show through amazingly. Now I don't want to give away the whole film, but it starts out with a man saying no to life (not making decisions, thus not living life) He lacks purpose and passion as well as skill with women (Masculinity) Until he meets a self help guru who makes a pack with him to start saying yes to everything, thus allowing him to break out of this rut and start making decisions (This could be any new age self help guru currently out there, there are a ton of them.) His masculinity boost up, he starts to enjoy his career, he meets a woman who is his opposite (KWML- He's a King, she's a Magician, and people by nature are attracted to their opposites) By agreeing to do wild and crazy things and just go with the flow he creates the powerful attraction tool of mystery. Things are going pretty well except that by saying yes to everything he is indiscriminate with his time and thus conflict arises (by saying yes to everything, he is not using Observing Ego which is being able to look over your self in a real time way and judge your actions.) Also there is a point that his girlfriend finds out the truth about his attending this seminar, and thus his pact to saying yes (Or his secret to the mystery behind him) When this happens it totally shuts her down and the relationship directly ends for no other reason. The mystery has been broken and solved, the question mark becomes a period. By not using Observing Ego and saying yes to everything he is alos practicing poor assertion of boundaries in his life. And I don’t want to really give away the ending so I will stop there, but we can see directly through this movie a great deal of real life problems that many men face in society today. Awesome film
Has anyone else seen it, what do you think?

Danger Zone!

This was an article about tonights show published in the College newspaper today.
http://ocolly.com/2008/12/05/danger-zone-2/
By Nathan Poppe
Entertainment Editor
Published: December 05, 2008

DJ Danger Granger, known in the real world as entrepreneurship senior Granger Brown, has been spinning in Oklahoma for about eight months.

He got his start playing live with Beatpunks, Granger’s partner in crime Justin Laughlin, at the Stonewall Tavern.

The two DJs are set to spin at Eskimo Joe’s tonight at 10.

Brown paused his music to give a short interview.

O’Colly: What’s the strangest place you have DJed?

Granger Brown: Probably just little ghetto house parties. The best place I played was in Oklahoma City with Dance Robots, Dance!

They had Clever, who is from Atlanta. (He is) nationally known … I would say world-known DJ. I had only been DJing six months, and I got to play with him.

OC: What can people expect from your Eskimo Joe’s show?

GB: A lot of my stuff is lyric-driven and remixes of Bloc Party and indie bands like that. I think (Beatpunks and I) will throw in a little bit of hip hop.

OC: How do you decide what music you will spin at shows? Do you just hit shuffle?

GB: Oh no, it’s all on the fly. It’s kinda like chess, almost. If you wanna make a good set, you’re gonna have to string it along. You have to be a couple songs ahead of what you’re playing.

OC: When I hear music, I dance “Footloose” style. You would never want to see me dance, but how do people usually respond to your music?

GB: Honestly, at first a couple will start kinda going out there to get it going. People are really shy about dancing. But when you got a bunch of people dancing together you can’t really tell how people are dancing. Maybe you got a couple of people that are really good.

It’s not necessarily normal grinding and freak dancing. It’s just moving to the beat. The greatest thing is when I talk to people and they’re like, “Man, we came out and I’ve never danced, and I danced.”

OC: Explain to me your involvement with independently exposed.

GB: It’s my radio show on 93.7 Sunday nights from 8 to 10 p.m. I play a little bit of dance music on there but mainly its indie and underground music.

I’ve been DJing that for I’d say like two years now.

PURE *80's GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

FUTURECOP! - We are Future! Mix
We are the Future! Mix Tracklist:

Madonna – Borderline
Cameo – Word Up
Phil Collins – Sussudio
Belinda Carlisle - We Want The Same Thing
Janet Jackson – Principle Pleasure
Jermaine Stewart – We Don’t Have To Take Clothes Off
Futurecop! – Tonight’s Hero

Bruce Hornsby – The Long Race
John Parr – St. Elmo’s Fire
Robert Tepper – No Easy Way Out
Simple Minds – Don’t you (Forget About Me)
Futurecop! – Transformers
Robbie Robb – In Time (Futurecop! edit)

Futurecop! was founded by Manzur Iqbal from Manchester about one year ago, when he started with absolutely no knowledge about music production and wanted to create a sound inspired by 80s teen flicks, especially the movies of John Hughes and Sci-fi cartoons like transformers or thundercats, not caring about being different or trying to be commercial, even though his music might as well be called pop music. Later on Peter Carrol from London teamed up with him and together they are now recreating the atmosphere and vibe of the soundtracks to the best 80s movies that never existed.
