As you can read below I have been going through an insane and very competitive contest over the last weekend and for several months before that. It has been an awesome experince though. We have actually made into the top 6 and competed in the Finals on Sat. We will find out on the 14th who wins, so wish my team luck. But as of now we are done, and now its time to get back to bringing you some deserved attention!

OKLAHOMA CITY – Eighteen teams of college students with entrepreneurial dreams have been chosen as semifinalists in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup collegiate business plan competition, officials said.
Nearly 50 business plans were submitted by about 150 students from across the state in the fifth annual event, competing for $200,000 in cash awards, $50,000 in free commercialization services, $40,000 in fellowships and $10,000 in scholarships.
The event enters the finals stage April 3-4 at the Presbyterian Health Foundation Research Park Conference Center, where oral presentations will be given.
Winners will be announced in an awards banquet April 14 at the Bricktown Events Center, attended by guest speakers Gov. Brad Henry and Chancellor of Higher Education Glen Johnson. In addition to awards and prizes, the top two finishers in each of the graduate and undergraduate divisions will be invited to compete for additional prize money in a tri-state competition May 26-28 in Las Vegas.
The semifinalist business plans cover a wide range of markets and technology, including a patented sternum clamp for use in surgery submitted by Stronghold Surgical Solutions, the team of undergraduate students at Rogers State University in Claremore, and Digital Native Learning, the University of Oklahoma team’s concept that involves a multiplayer online computer game to help students study.
Several business plans focus on so-called “green technologies,” such as preserving unpaved roadways and suppressing dust with a waterproof polymer mixture; providing a more efficient and cost-effective way to take advantage of the planet’s natural geothermal insulation to heat homes and businesses; and using anti-microbial silver ions to destroy bacteria and provide cleaner, disease-free bed linens for hospitals.
And then there are a few concepts that are hard to classify: the OU undergraduate team’s Javalins, for example, which uses a unique process of manufacturing and packaging to infuse coffee creamer and sugar as a solid on a stirring stick. Those materials dissolve in a time-released formula, allowing the consumer to control the strength of flavor desired.
“The breadth of technologies that these students outlined in their business plans leaves no doubt that revolutionary new devices and methods are on their way to the market, all pushed by the excellent entrepreneurial talent on Oklahoma campuses,” said Tom Walker, chief executive of i2E, the nonprofit corporation managing the event.
“The competition serves as a starting point for the next wave of Oklahoma entrepreneurs to launch their careers,” i2E vice president Rex Smitherman said. “The Governor’s Cup competition has expanded in scope this year with the addition of Entrepreneurial Leadership Program Fellowships and increased scholarships provided by the Oklahoma Business Roundtable, all of which translates into more opportunities for participating college students.”

I also changed into my MA DUKES shirt which led me to meet Tom Bacon, an amazing person who happens to be very close to Dukes and has had a big hand in the T-shirt campaign to raise money for her. Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey, the mother of the late James “J Dilla” Yancey, is currently battling the same disease that took her son’s life. Dough from this tee goes to Ma Dukes. Tom ended up inviting me and my posse to come to the Texas Night Club party that he was sponsoring. We ended up having a blast! Thanks Tom!
All I know about this girl is that she was featured at both of the after parties, she is from sweden, cute as a button, has nasty lyrics and beats that make me want to shake my ass! after seeing her perform I actually bought her EP on itunes which I rarely do. It was well worth it!
